Constructed from sustainable materials, including reclaimed bricks and cedar cladding, the development comprises two terraces of three houses.
A whole house ventilation system draws air in from the outside, removes pollutants and dust, and then transfers it to each room. This is connected to a ground source heating system that provides residual energy to warm or cool the incoming air. In addition, heat from the bathrooms and kitchens is used to warm the incoming air as required.
The ground source heating system also supplies energy for the underfloor heating and hot water via an internal heat pump. Combined heating and climate control running costs for each house are estimated to be approximately £250 per year.
