This development was designed in close collaboration with Greenwich’s Planning, Design and Conservation officers.
The mass of the new buildings, which range from four to ten storeys, is broken down by a sensitive and ingenious use of various materials including, red and white facing brick, pre-patinated zinc and projecting balconies with coloured aluminium balustrades. Basement parking including a car club space and cycle parking enables amenity space to be maximised.
A centralised wood-pellet biomass boiler with gas-fired backup enables a 20% reduction in Carbon emissions and the achievement of an Ecohomes ‘Excellent’ rating. Other ecological enhancements include biodiversity measures such as bat and swift boxes, log piles and roof-mounted nettle beds.
