This site forms part of the emerging masterplan for the Old Kent Road. The scheme is situated close to a conservation area so extensive public consultation with local residents was required. Due to the small footprint of the site extensive design studies were required to make the scheme efficient to build as well as maximising the number of homes on each floor plate.
We worked in close cooperation with the developer of the neighboring site who was bringing their site forward at the same time as well as liaising with the owners of the historic building to the rear, as all three sites share the same access.
This area will benefit from a new district heating system so a detailed review of the M and E approach was required to allow for flexible plant room design. We have taken the scheme from concept and are now currently on site.
